West Virginia has a long history in the field of Positive Behavior Support. Today's West Virginia Association for Positive Behavior Support Network (WVAPBS) was established in 2003 and evolved from a state training team created in 1991.
In 2011 the WVAPBS became a non-profit organization. Currently the full network membership meets semiannually and the leadership team meets monthly. Our overarching goal is to spread the concepts of PBS across all service arenas in order to promote quality of life for all people involved in systems. Our past focus has been primarily in the I/DD Waiver community and early childhood services. We are expanding to offer endorsement to professionals in the mental health field and other areas.
